Kay (Kaori) Akahane
Director of Mind Body Potential
Board Certified Structural Integrator (BCSI)
Licensed Massage therapist (NYS)
I began my career as a relaxation therapist (body and facial aromatherapist & reflexologist), then became a licensed massage therapist (NYS) after graduating from The Swedish Institute in NYC.
I began my career as a relaxation therapist (body and facial aromatherapist & reflexologist). After graduating from The Swedish Institute in New York City, I became a New York state-licensed massage therapist.
As a massage therapist, I have focused on enhancing ease of chronic tension patterns, increasing joints' range of motion, and promoting healing through evidence-based therapeutic massage and targeted treatment approaches.
I graduated from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute (DIRI) in Boulder, Colorado in September 2018, where I learned Rolfing Structural Integration®. Rolfing Structural Integration is a holistic bodywork modality designed to help clients realize their full human potential. I believe this technique is critical for helping my clients achieve their goal of lasting change.
My training demonstrated that when I bring mindful intentionality to my work, new possibilities emerge as I provide the body with unconditional permission, space, and freedom to realign itself.
As a healthcare practitioner, I deem it essential to maintain my passion and enjoyment while continually exploring the functions of the human body and mind. By fostering a supportive environment, I empower individuals to unlock their full potential and embark on transformative journeys toward holistic wellness.
Since 2025, I have enhanced my knowledge by studying Manual Lymphatic Drainage at the Vodder School and Scar Work with Sharon Wheeler.
